Title: Carbon Fiber switch plates
Post by: Clicker on Sun, 21 February 2016, 18:26:08
I've been working on designing a keyboard for awhile. Finally got around to testing the keyboard plates made from carbon fiber.

Looks slick! Are they standard distances apart?

I usually say carbon fibers look ugly on a keyboard but that bluish hue looks great

They should be standard distance apart.

Its a carbon fiber core with colored fiberglass skin I believe. I bought the sheets 6 or 7 years ago to machine RC helicopter frames.

Also have a sheet of red.

These look super cool. Planning on making them tiny keyboards or just display cases?

They'll probably get tossed in the junk bin or live out their lives as a toy for me to play with while working... I made them to make verify the cad drawings and tools are good before I commit to machining the full sized plates.

Those are pretty cool! Just remember, be careful when working with carbon fiber.
