not sure if this is the right place to put it but here it is.
i have had the CM storm quickfire TK http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/products/keyboards/quickfiretk/ (http://gaming.coolermaster.com/en/products/keyboards/quickfiretk/) for a few years now and its great.
recently, my left arrow key has broken and after replacing the switch it is still broken. any ideas on what might be wrong?

What you need to do is Jump it directly with some copper wires.
Take a high resolution foto of the Back of the PCB, and we'll circle where u need to solder..
Don't worry, this is geekhack.. all ur keyboard problems R fix..

Thread moved to a more appropriate place and request for pics seconded - lets get this fixed :thumb:

thanks guys. now you get to see my crappy soldering and my coffee-stained PCB T.T
only have my phone right now. not exactly high res but its the best i could get my phone to focus up close so i hope its good enough
its the one in the middle. the one on the left works fine despite the stains

Sorry for the slow reply, but better late than never, right?
Is there any solder on the right pin of that switch? Doesn't look like there is, and that would of course make it not work.
It's not a friendly PCB design but looks like there's a trace going from that pin to the left pin of the switch above, and the left pin goes to D177 below and left. If you touch a piece of wire between the two red dots it should press the left arrow - if it does you can solder wires where the blue lines are and it will work. Unless your replacement switch is defective...

thanks, ill try touching the wire and get back to you.
edit:
ok, tried connecting the 2 red dots and nothing happened does this mean the diode is dead? i connected the diode from the down arrow and it worked
yes there is solder. its just bad lighting
-
Sorry, didn't notice the edit!
I'll have another look later, in the mean time have a free bump :)

Had a look but can't be sure of anything from your pic, is this the same PCB?

yep, thats it.
for orientation, the white circle in the bottom right is the same one as in my picture
-
Ok, looks like I was right last time but if it didn't work you need more!

All the red dots should be connected and touching any of them to either of the orange dots should output the broken arrow.
If touching the red on the switch to the left orange diode works but the other orange diode doesn't connect the two orange diodes, then touch red on the switch to the green diode and it should work. If not D177 is dead (not likely unless you crushed it...)
-
works great! thanks a lot
i accidentally pulled up the pads on d177 so i soldered a diode from green to 0194
-
You should only connect the same colour dots, anything else could result in ghosting issues.
Even if the pads are gone soldering green to green and orange to orange should fix it, solder the wires to the diode then glue it to the board then solder to the switch and other diode if you have to :thumb:
