Hello geekhackers!
I always had a doubt, never knew correctly that way is better/more effective to press the spacebar. For example now only I press with the left hand.
Both are used?
Its uses contrary to the last key pressed?
I hope you can help me or tell her story.
Cheers! :thumb:

The best way to hit the space bar is be an astronaut working a hard day, and all you want to do is get the hardest drink to numb the pain.
-
Apparently the right way is to use your thumb, you can use either left thumb or right thumb, whichever is more comfortable for you.
-
I always strike with the left thumb. There's a shiny oval on the left side of my spacebar.

Same here but on the right side :)) any way to get ride of the shine?

Get a PBT spacebar :3
It will still develop the shine overtime but it will take much longer.

At the PBT space bar store.

I always use right thumb for space. I only use left shift though. I guess it balances out. :)
-
So I think that I can continue living using the thumb of my left hand :))
-
Use the right thumb for spacebar when typing in QWERTY for maximum speedz :thumb:
-
I've been using my right index finger for a looooong time and still occasionally fall back to that instead of using my right thumb.

I'm the opposite! left thumb, only use left shift when I'm doing some windows commands, and that's when I take my hands off of home row and type it as weird as I can, while hitting down hard. usually opening Start Task or Ctrl+alt+delete, to close out of something that is bugging out XD

The only real way to hit the space bar is like a space marine inquisitor slamming down his power axe among dissenters of our God-emperor. Which is with strength, impunity, and delight.
-
The thumb of your dominant hand, usually. Some advocate using both thumbs, selected based on the characters you end and start words with, but most people end up using either left or right thumb exclusively (right thumb for me). IMHO the spacebar should be split into two keys (with hardware switchable functions) so you can use your other thumb for some modifier (for instance Fn/Edit layer for compact boards). It's pretty useless to have one of your two most flexible and strong digits doing absolutely nothing as you type.

I was born left handed but me pops figured life would be easier if I was right handed.. I press spacebar with my left hand :-[
-
i use left, probably because i was gaming before i was typing
i find that it's more comfortable for me to use right (for some reason), but it would probably take me weeks to get used to it..
but the bigger problem is that my spacebar is 10 times as loud when pressed on the right side (hhkb) :( sigh, i really need to get some dampening material.
-
I use my left thumb and hit it slightly to the left, not too far from the center though.
I taught myself to type from a young age just from using the computer a lot, I primarily use my pointer finger and middle finger, but also use my left thumb to also press V.
I also piss people off because instead of holding shift for caps, I tap caps lock and then quickly tap it again. I use right shift to use the symbols (!@#$%^&*()

tp4tissue has a guide that talks about all this in detail!
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=67941.0
quote directly from his post
-Right Space-
--- Only use your right thumb for the space bar
--- The reason behind this is that the left hand letters (on qwerty) is used significantly more in english words.. allocation of the space bar to the-right-thumb balances the total key-load more evenly between fingers
I am used to using my left thumb though so i always use my left thumb

Never really thought about the correct way to press a space bar... for me I also use my left, and after reading people's replies it does make sense from a gaming stand point.
