Title: Arche Hi-tek keyboard?
Post by: didjamatic on Sat, 05 December 2009, 09:00:27
Have you seen this type of switch/keyboard before?

Arche label on front.  Back label is Hi-tek.  Model RT-101+ is like a Compaq.  part numbers jive with some Compaq's.
This link says it is made by NMB. I found this http://curio.egloos.com/2689744

Funny. I have an NEC RT101 and it has completely different keyswitches.

How good do those switches feel? Are they mechanical?

Yes, they're mechanical.  But I'm not sure how they feel.

If you can't tell from the photo, it's a slider that is resisted by a spring, there are two contacts that touch when the key is depressed.  It's a very tactile board, I thought it was clicky but maybe just very tactile.  I like it.  I'll post photos when I clean it up more and will try to get some better detail shots of the switches.

that's a nice looking board. someone paid extra attention in designing the keycaps and case.

time for soap & water :)

Rubbing alcohol, as soap can leave more of a residue.

I have heard they feel pretty good, but I haven't tried them myself.  The big problem is that they are hard to find.

Forget the soap. Drops some seeds in that thing, plop some rich topsoil on it and then water daily until something colorful grows.
