Title: Ergodox PCB revision with fix for outer columns?
Post by: profet on Sun, 28 February 2016, 13:43:30
Is there an Ergodox PCB revision that fixes the outer columns if you wanted 1x keys rather than 1.5x keys?

I think this would be especially useful if you wanted ALPS switches as ALPS keycaps with 1x are far easier to find.

What I'm talking about:

A revision with fixed hole spacing would not work well for Alps anyway because with switch holes to the right, both the switches and the keycaps would have to be rotated to the right.

I do think a revision could be made with all holes in the same orientation, though.
The footprint would look something like this, with two holes overlapping. (I made this in QCad, not in any PCB editing program, Red: Cherry plate, Yellow: Alps plate.)
