Title: Are the 6 keys in the Ergodox Infinity thumb cluster supposed to be for thumb?

Are all the 6 keys in the Ergodox Infinity thumb cluster supposed to be for the thumb?

I can't imagine using the 1u keys with my thumbs

I've never owned one, so I don't know if the 1u keys in the thumb cluster are suppose to be pressed with the thumbs

It's possible—well, kind of— with sculpted keycaps. It works okay with something like DCS Row 1 (inverted) on the bottom and Row 5 on the top. See pictures of my ErgoDox (https://imgur.com/a/nPZmc), esp. with Kinesis Advantage keycaps; note that the 80key layout isn't supported by Infinity though.

The Kinesis keys on the top of the clusters are super-high. Higher than regular numeric row, and not widely available.

Yup, equivalent of DCS Row 5, the respective Cherry row (uncommon too) or caps on some vintage keyboards, such as certain Chicony 5191s.
