depends on where the partial set came from. there were full same-color sets created with specific compatibility for hhkb's, 87u's, and 660c's, and then there were a few partial left-over sets with varying degrees of compatibility.
so you'll want to ask specifically for an 87u set to ensure compatibility, otherwise you'll have various gaps (no long right shift, or incorrect/missing bottom row keycaps, etc.) if you get another board's set.
just post it here dawg, it's not classified information.
Lol, good point. Here.missing a lot by my guess (tough to tell profile of keys when they're oriented backwards). what i can see-
Lol, good point. Here.missing a lot by my guess (tough to tell profile of keys when they're oriented backwards). what i can see-
alt/ctrl(?) - alt/ctrl
tab - return (? might be left shift)
alt/ctrl(?) - capslock(?)
so all keycaps appear to at least be 87u-compatible, but by my estimation you're missing both shifts, three bottom row 1u keys (win/win/apps), backspace, and one bottom row alt/ctrl key.

Thanks man! Yeah, I knew it wasn't a full kit, but I wanted to get an idea of where they would fit. I could see if I can get a better picture if that would help?

Wow thanks! How did you do that?... Here is a picture with all the caps properly oriented, just in case. :)Looks like top left might actually another tab key, so that would indicate this keycaps were part of a HHKB set. You could use that on your forward-slash key, but that's not technically a modifier key on the 87U.
haha btc recreating the scene of the crime.there was a leftovers sale where a lot of partial sets were sold (something like 50 sale items of various groups of mods/wasds/arrows/escs/fns/etc), so its possible this set came from there (especially since this the most popular color iirc, so lots of random leftovers).
why do people break up sets?? that makes me sad.

I just remembered that the realforce has a weird slider on the left ctrl and the keycap stem is rotated 90 degrees. So it's probably unlikely that one of those ctrls is specifically made for the left ctrl, right? Am I correct in thinking that only 6-7 realforce kits were produced?

That's correct. I'd ask your seller/trade partner to snap a quick pic of the stems. Might end up being surprised. I built my full RF set from two partials and somehow one of them had the rotated RF left ctrl included.
The 6-7 number is what I've heard for full sets, but there's probably way more partials out there. I'd also bet at least one person aside from myself has managed to complete a RF set from incompletes, though I've yet to see anyone else post a picture of a full set either here or on reddit.

Awesome, thanks for clearing that up. I got a picture of the stems for that partial set, and no luck on the RF left control. Looks like I'm going to try and pick up some more partial sets, but I almost think it might be next to impossible to get a full set. It's funny because your board kept coming up when I was trying to research Realforce KK mod kits, what a nice set up man! :thumb: Although the fact that you have the only documented case of a full RF mod kit doesn't give me much hope of finding enough partials to complete a set for myself. Oh well, some KK mods are better than none, right?

Well, you might be happy to hear about what I just found out:
I've got a RF left-ctrl spare.
It's in anniversary blue though, so wouldn't quite match those bianchis from above. But if you want it, it's yours. I've also got an RF right shift in anniversary, so I think with those taken care of, the only thing you won't be able to find from HHKB partials would be the backspace. Shoot me a pm with your address if you want em!
