Post by: vincentk14 on Wed, 09 March 2016, 10:17:32
i got a nice deal about this keyboard (about $100 in new condition)
but i have read a lot of complain that the keycaps seems easly broken in a few month (not even a year)
do they already fix it ? or still happening nowadays ?
should i buy it ?

I've haven't used my G710 a lot but I have a friend with a G710+ who is a pretty heavy-duty gamer (never misses PDXLAN) & has had his for at least a year with no problems. It's my theory that folks who have had problems with the keycaps breaking have pulled & replaced their caps, to add or remove O-rings or whatever. I think if you don't pull the caps & just use it like it came out of the box, you'll be okay.

I think pulling & replacing the caps stresses the stem part of the caps, which seems to be the point of failure for the folks having problems.

I had the 710+ for 3 years before I replaced it with the Orion Spark (which I've now replaced with the pok3r). Never had a key break, and just sold it in almost new condition, and I am a coder and a pretty hardcore gamer.
