I think I remember him saying that he had dyed the caps black himself. This is one for somebody who likes some of the wonderful new colors of spray paint from Rustoleum.

No, only cosmetic.

A good paint job on the case and a fresh set of caps and it will be good to go for another couple of decades.

That does not sound like a clueless n00b to me. Perhaps he is even a member here, or at least he must have visited this place at some time.

I just hope that he did not dye the original caps from the SSK. Those should have special legends for the integrated numpad.
There should be plenty of regular Model M caps around for dying.

Thats what I was thinking. If he painted the original SSK keycaps they could have been brought back like the rest of the board.
