I have had very good luck with 1991 beige labels. You got one of the loooong cables, too.

There are actually several sellers who have caches of these keyboards on that website.  You can also get a silver-label one for about 200 yuan, which is quite modest in my opinion compared to their going rates on eBay.

There's always Google Translate, if you have that enabled.  Failing that, I'm always happy to help in Chinese-English translations.

I have done some research, and found out that Taobao only ships to China and Nearby.. is that true? If so, do i need to do it via some sort of shipping middleman?

I live in Thailand tho, not far from China but as I tried browsing Taobao via Google translate.. they do not ship to my country :(

They certainly do ship to Canada, that I can tell you for sure.  I'm typing right now on a keyboard shipped to Canada.

So the ordering and shipping process is as simple as from eBay and Aliexpress ?.. do you need to have chinese account or alipay?

If you don't use Chrome download Chrome. Then download the google translate extension  ;)

There are people that will act as a Proxy for a low price, if a seller won't ship to your location.

It will prompt you for an Alipay account, but I don't think that's strictly necessary.  However, if you wish to avail yourself the credit card services through a relatively secure medium, I would advise using Alipay.  It's also probably the best option if you don't have RMB handy.

You can get middlemen to help out, such as: http://www.engtaobao.com/item/40463745601.html

I make zero claims as to the reliability of that particular one, just the first one to come up for "English Taobao".

(Actually it looks like that particular seller may ship internationally themselves, but some don't)

Let the experiments begin! Who would like to be the first test subject?  ;D

Hypothesis:
The SSK can only stop hollow points, but certainly not at close range.

"Literally"?

Perhaps if it was a particularly soft bullet, which was travelling particularly slowly.

Point blank? No way. But yes, steel > Lead. Buck shot would be a different story altogether.

Hopefully none of the rivets would shatter. In some ways the Model M is really delicate because those.

It can stop a bullet of any kind... if one just tosses it onto the backplate!

Guys, the label at the back is 1391401 (11-14-91) but on the inside is 1386085 (11-15-91). What does it mean?

Found a similar situation :)

At first I dont want to purchase at Taobao thinking that I might get a fake or defective Model M.

Now, I almost thought that this one is new due to its color and condition upon seeing what's inside  :D

Thanks guys for your good feedback.

Right on! Just think of Taobao as an ebay from another mother and you'll be ok  ;)

^ Yep. I am organizing Groups Buys here in Philippines to purchase keyboards at Taobao.

It is like "bringing cheap mechanical keyboards to your fingertips"  :p
