I had a friend in high school that was grossed out by it. She hated the sound. I used to say it all the time around her. I think it secretly made her moist.

As someone who runs a scratch bakery for a living i always get a good chuckle when a woman asks me to describe a cake flavor and see how many times i can use it within a sentence and watch her cringe.

What makes that $17.99 Cake different than that $30 one?

Well miss it has chocolate ganache on top and the cake itself is very dense and moist, most of your cheaper cakes have that sort of fluffy and dry springy cake.  This one is made with european chocolate and is just very moist and dense in every bite.  It feels as though a gourmet chocolate bar and a dense cake sort of merged so each moist delicious bite feels like a bit of heaven unlike the more generic cakes which taste like something you would make at home.  And should you have left overs this cake stays moist and fresh much longer than the cheaper ones since it's so dense it holds up better.  The cake doesn't make me feel as though i need to guzzle water after each forkful as in general it is much more moist and flavorful.

So five times in that bull****ting explanation :p

Obvioslly not an exact quote since i can't recall each exchange to the letter....but gives you an idea how i have fun responding sometimes and watching the facial reactions that ensue since they never simply ask me to stop saying the word MOIST.

I never really got why some people hate this word. It's bizarre. The best cake is moist cake, the best meat is moist meat. A warm moist towel on your face is delightful. The band Moist is pretty good. The best kisses are just slightly moist. The pros heavily outweigh the cons. And I believe if your mind automatically goes to the 'gross' use of the word, then maybe it's a problem with you and not the word.
