Title: Hello from the rain of land: Seattle!
Post by: rampantandroid on Wed, 23 March 2016, 20:50:58
Hey everyone!

Just joining GH after lurking for a bit - I'm trying to figure out what's needed to build a Phantom TKL - the sticking point for me has been a case. I know I could get a Filco and gut it, but that's not really economical. What finally got me to join is MOZ's custom Acrylic case project.

Right now at home I'm using a Das Keyboard 3 with Cherry MX Blues, and at work I just have a Logitech Iluminated Keyboard - years ago a coworker in the office next to mine threatened to beat me with my das keyboard, and then offered to buy me a new one to get me to stop the clicking (my wife is now threatening to throw the DK out the window.)

The Phantom I want to build will have clears (which I might modify to ergo-clears, hence why I want a Phantom instead of a WASD.) We'll see how I deal with TKL  :-X

I've only ever been to Seattle in August.

It was awesome!

It's pretty awesome year round - if you like skiing or snowboarding in winter (Mt. Baker is nearby, and holds the record for most snowfall in a season.) Summers here (July 4th solidly through August and somewhat into September) are what make the rain worth it. That, and the fact that if you look north, east, south or west...you see mountains. Olympics to the west, Cascades to the east and north, Mt Rainier to the south.

Moved here from Lancaster, PA for a job...never going back.  :)

Meh, they've got one ring, came close to a second and had a decent run last year. I'm just tired of hearing about Wilson's fiancé...

And hey, when they won the SB, we Seattleites were about the most civil mob:

Eh, I don't hate the fans...or even the team itself. I hate QBs who feel the need to kiss their biceps/do stupid showy stuff (hope you guys have a better season this time around! Last year was a bit sad. I'm curious if Kaepernick sticks around with Chip Kelley or he heads elsewhere. I think Chip Kelley could do a good job though.)

My brother in law lived there for quite some time, though of all places he is deciding to move to Ecuador as of late out of the blue.

Welcome to Geekhack!

Clears are great at work.  I got told off for using an SSK at work, so I switches to a CODE with clears.  They are a log stiffer than blues though.  Something to bear in mind.

Although if you're looking at building a keyboard with ergo clears, you might consider Zealios (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=69590.0) too.
