Title: Kana keyboard layout and 60% ESC key question
Post by: AwSmCreator on Thu, 24 March 2016, 07:50:23
So I have been trying to use a 60% board and learn Kana layout. I know Romanji is the norm but I really want to learn it. Also I got the Otaku keyset so there's that... Anyway, the "ro" key is mapped on the `/~ key which on the 60% board is also the "esc" key. So when you try to hit the ro key you just end up hitting esc. Any ideas on how to fix this?

What keyboard are you using?  If it's not programmable you're stuck with whatever keys the maker thinks you should have, if it is programmable you just need to change that key position to `~ instead of esc and put esc on a secondary layer.

If it's not programmable you could get software to remap the key, but you'd need to install and configure it on each computer you use and which software would depend on your operating system.  Pretty sure this will leave you with no way of pressing esc too...

It's a Pok3r. I tried remapping the key but that didn't seem to work either. I'll give it another shot.

If you're using Windows Autohotkey might be of use. Could remap esc to a combination of keys or something of that notion.
