Hey everyone,
I am loving my HHKB - bought it a few months ago and it's really grown on me.
I'm thinking of modding it to MX.
I LOVE the feel of the stock HHKB PBT caps, even more than my GMK set, and it's made me rethink whether or not I want to buy any more GMK sets. Does anybody know how the hhkb stock PBT texture (and legend clarity - seems pretty clear) compares to that of other thick, high-quality PBT (like EnjoyPBT or imsto's, for example)?

You'll get both extremes of opinion.
Half will say to keep it as the maker intended - nothing wrong with PFU PBT.
Others will say convert to MX-compatible sliders and keep swapping keycaps around and never quite be satisfied.

Imo the texture on hhkb keyset are the best :thumb:
You are gonna have a hard time finding the space bar though if you mod it to mx.

Some says that the texture of topre PBT is like the texture of BSP keycaps or OG Deysubs PBT caps which is smooth

nothing beats PBT from BSP / Cherry

Usually i have a dire need and want to replace keycaps on all my boards....however the stock caps on the realforce and HHKB are so nice i have not felt the need or urge to buy sliders to do so personally.

If you don't have a specific MX keycap set to put on the HHKB, what is driving you to swap the stems? If you're simply curious about how MX PBT sets can feel, I would recommend purchasing a set first and sampling it. People have different preferences between the types of PBT you mention, and only you can make this decision. FWIW, if you want "the best" PBT caps you'll want to grab some OG Cherry dyesubs, which will not be cheap.

which will be 500$ per sets :'(
perfection is so expensive

Topre caps are literally the only stock caps I can live with. Every other board I swapped the stocks out immediately and stored them away.

You can get OG dyesubs for $150-200, AFAIK. Still expensive, but if you want the best keycaps you can get, it's worth it.
