Some people at OCN has gotten those.

They're supposedly quite good.
However it's not on all switches, usually it's only on the WASD cluster. You need to check x key lightswitch they have on the labeling. The other keys are just basic mech ones.

Are there already KB's up for sale with that kind of switch?

I hope it'll be worthwhile and not some sort of laser is "better" than optical but then it isn't again.

Hmm just a standard IR 'Interrupter', common in everything from DVD players to car doors...

Even if its not operated in pulse mode the emitter should last years.

Basically the only thing the mfg. can mess up is the rest of the keyboard electronics / design. :cool:
