Title: Lightsaver V2 LED Issues
Post by: Prankk on Sun, 27 March 2016, 18:02:26
Hello Geekhack,

I recently modified a lightsaver v2 that i bought in the classifieds and I am having some issues. I have built keyboards in the past and never had a problem, but with this one some of the led's are not working. I am unsure what the problem is.

Here are some pictures. The first shows the led's that are not working. The second shows an area of the pcb where the led's are not functioning. I honestly have no clue so if there is something else that you need to see to help, me please let me know.

hmm soldering is a bit shoddy. you sure you have the led's on the right polarity?

Yes, the LED's are correctly oriented. I have desoldered and resoldered some of them to no effect. The interesting thing to me is that in all the rows that are effected the leds stop working at a point and continue down the row. If it was due to the soldering I would think that it would be more random.

I work with some electrical engineers and they said that I might have damaged "the common." I am going to bring the board into work for them to take a look.

Any other ideas?
