Title: A Man's Gotta Solder....
Post by: tp4tissue on Tue, 05 April 2016, 21:08:07
The G400 Weeaboo-Edition, 5x Omron D2F-01F

[attach=1]

In order to solder Omrons onto the mouse, you have to either Glue-it in place, or Tie-it with something to make sure it's flush with the board.... This is necessary on ALL 5 switches of the G400...

[attach=2]

(Twist-tie)

Otherwise it might go in slightly askew, which may affect the durability (of the solder-joint) and more importantly worsen Switch Feel..

[attach=3]

Button Flap Modification

[attach=4]

Depending on how worn-in your button flaps are, you MAY or MAY NOT need to file the contact surface where the flap hits the switches.

The reason is.. the D2F-01F mounted is about 0.2-0.3mm taller than the D2FC..

So, what happens is, if it's too tight, it will engage on it's own, or refuse to disengage all together.

Generally, it's quite safe to remove ~0.15-0.25mm of material off the button flap contact surface, they're the little H looking pegs on the bottom.

To remove material simply scratch the middle of the H-peg with a flat head screw driver..No need to remove the top plate.. No need to remove material off the Sides of the H peg, as they do not touch the button.

You have to scratch pretty-hard,  but remain cognizant enough not to hurt yourself..

You can not fully tell if the switches are too tight without putting the screws back on..  This will be a short trial and error process.

Nawh.. it wasn't meant as an insult..

I really think many kidz out there don't got their monitors tuned right..

Accurate calibration is impossible without a probe..

But I can talk you through at least making it LOOK good..

Do you plan to play it in the competitive sense, 1024x768, minimum graphics settings,

Or,   are you trying to play with all the fidelity settings on @ 4K resolution.

nah, not competitive just to have fun.

don't really need 4k. 1440 is fine

4k blurays incoming at the end of the year..

So if you're gonna buy a monitor TODAY,  I highly recommend going 4K..

I see 65" LG brand TVs 4K for ~ $1000 ...

That's a pretty good buy..

The only real difference between one of those, and a smaller monitor @ the same price, would be "Wide Color Gamut 10-bit processing)"..

I don't know how much you care about that..  but I personally think 65" is a better buy..
