Title: Howdy
Post by: scotticus on Wed, 06 April 2016, 13:24:00
From Texas, started my love of mechanical keyboards with a CM Storm, now i have KBP v60 and a Planck on the way.  very excited about the Planck.  Thought I'd join to ask questions and get on some of the awesome key sets that are available here.  Also going to try to upgrade the CM Storm with a Frosty Flake so I can modify it a bit.

also have a friend with a CNC mill, i would like for him to cut some stuff for me, like a plate for a numpad, or back for my v60.

Hi, and welcome :D A friend with a CNC mill you say? Which switches did you decide on for you v60 and Planck?

If you need to know where to get a Frosty Flake 1upkeyboards.com usually keeps them in stock

yup, its a tormach personal CNC.

my CM Storm and v60 have browns, i love the tactile feel of them without a ton of noise.  Oringed all the caps on both.  the planck was ordered with the Gateron browns as most people said they were very similar to the cherry mx browns but smoother.  aaaand i ordered the frosty flake from 1upkbs :)

Haha, 1upkeyboards has really stepped up to the plate recently. So much stuff in their store it's ridiculous!

Welcome to Geekhack!

Most CM keyboards and the KBP v60 have a standard layout, so finding replacement keycap sets is easy.

The Planck is a different matter - although may sets will fit, depending on your layout you might be better looking for uniform profile sets, like DSA or SA.  Those keycaps you can swap around to any position as they are all the same height.
