I tried the saline spray first as well..
But eventually, I realized that it just works better if you flush with a large Volume of liquid..
Which is why i moved onto the rinse bottles..

That works. I've just heard that people neti-potting and whatever other wacky **** just ends them up with sinus infections.

Sure, if one does things carelessly, yea sinus infection is possible.

I wipe the tip of my douche nozzle with rubbing alcohol after every use to avoid this. Takes 2 seconds. Keeping a pot clean and not making it a breeding ground... not as easy.

The best way to keep it clean is to just rinse and let it dry.
Drying kills pretty much anything that could infect you..

Been pretty lucky so far with my allergies, but that's probably because California can't seem to make up it's mind what season it is.
Had a neti-pot, but switched to the squeeze bottle and it's much better. Typically put it in the microwave for 1 minute after cleaning with some alcohol or hydrogen peroxide.

I've microwaved mine once, and melted it by accident..
Eventually now, I skip the bottle all together..
I just make the mixture from the little packets, and breath it in from a steel pot
Obviously you need to breath shallow enough that you don't swallow the salt water or get it in your lungs..
Eventually, I got the technique nailed down.. Now I can drain an entire 1.5 liters batch in only 5 minutes..
<it sounds more silly / scary> than it is.. hahahahahaha..

I thought the safest and cleanest method was just to shoot up one nostril and let it drain into the sink. My pops used to lay on the bed with his head upside-down hanging off and just snort that **** right up. I'm pretty sure that would just compact your sinuses.

That's not the reason that people get sinus infections. There are four cavities you're trying to clean out. Two of them drain easily. The others, not so much. So it depends on your technique. And if you don't drain those other two, residual water gives you the infection. Ask me how I know. Since my allergist queried me on that (my PCP never did... just kept giving me antibiotics), and corrected me, I haven't had another.
And allergy shots. Expensive, but with the right doctor, it can be life changing.

I know rhinocort and flonase are OTC now, but I always got sore throats in the past with them. Should I try to add one to my regimen?
-
I'll just stay inside. With all mah keyboards 'n games. Who needs to go outside? I'll make the GF do groceries. I can work from home. Like Sheldon said "why do you need to go out when humans have tried to perfect inside so much?"

Get the ****ing pills, the ones that you have to get on prescription. They work.

It's all in the technique. If you get the dose in the throat, you didn't get it in the sinuses, so it's worse than useless. Only put the tip in right beside the septum, and angle it towards the outer part of the nostril. It takes a bit of practice to get it right, but since my allergist showed me, my throat problems are a thing of the past.

Depends on how bad your allergies are. Mine are so bad, that even taking cingulair and two other prescription pills every day, along with a prescription nose spray and flonase, I still had problems. The shots have gotten me to the point that even though this has been the worst season in years, I feel better than I've ever felt before.

I'm pretty sure you just became my allergist. How much keycapz do I owe you?

I never really had any problems until I moved to the UK, then I started to have it. Last year I practically couldn't stop. It wasn't so severe that those pills wouldn't stop it though, I know some people have it so badly almost nothing stops it oO .

Not even winter yet and I am already sick and feel like I've been a chronic smoker for 50 years
I get through the runny nose by putting menthol in my vape and it sorts out most of the problems and does wonders for my throat

LOL! :) Glad to help- if you have any questions, I can ask my allergist when I go. He's VERY Good.

That's me. I'm almost literally allergic to EVERYTHING. He said I was an allergist's dream. Then apologized, and assured me that we were going to get this fixed. LOL
When they do the skin testing, it's based on a 3 mm test normally- he uses 5 mm however, and only does the 3 mm if it becomes a problem. To give an example- my test for grass was 51 mm (!!!!). He said I should have had my tonsils taken out when I was a child, but he wasn't going to do it now, and showed me how my epiglottis had become like 10% of the size it was before I started taking the shots. I knew I'd had it swell up and block my airway before, but I didn't know the reason why. He also showed me how you have cross allergies from respiratory to digestive- and that's where all of my digestive problems were coming from- not my GI. I never knew that allergies to cats translates into allergies to seafood. I have to carry around 2 epi-pens now, which sucks. But I almost had to use it once- that's when I found out that food allergies stack :(

So I was sneezing like a little whiny b*tch for like a week or so. But then I remembered... I got the GF some flowers! Sneezing and watery eyes is really annoying.

Daaamn! Years ago my nostrils would to collapse when I was physically active. I was a physical activity mouth breather :( I had no idea how bad others have it in comparison. I'm not trying to sound sarcastic, that really sounds awful.
