My auction is about to end at .99
I hope it's a geekhacker picking it up!
(shameless self-ebay pimping link, I know)

If I lived in the US I'd take it... They're a good source of Alps dampeners.
-
I was never able to find an affordable ADB-usb converter, so have stayed away from AEKII's.
-
lol that's okay. I don't mind losing a bit of money. I have a really low rating on ebay, and I should try and build that up by selling some cheap quick things.
Up next: I'm gonna retr0brite the AEK w/Pink ALPS, throw that up there
Also, retrobriting the ADK w/ Orange ALPS.
And maybe a few other things.
Hopefully those will net me a FEW bucks for all the restoration work at least. I really don't know ebay, I'm still learning how this thing works and realizing that selling isn't so easy.
-
Hopefully you'll get some snipers at the end pushing it up a bit.
-
why is it 90% of AEKIIs have the tan-lines from whatever sticker or shortcut guide goes there? itd be nice to see more that do not look like that.
-
i was sitting there watching it count down with you (or maybe i was the ONLY one...)
i wanted to bid on it, was gonna do $10 bid, but i just couldnt do it, the yellowing, so bad... even if it IS no worse than average.
-
somebody got a heck of a deal (and it wasn't me)

Haha I always wondered about this exact thing too! Probably the sticker came as a standard.
Apparently they all fall off, after some years - as a standard too.

I have one for sale, with a keyboard :P (affordable too)
-
i mean i know its from the shortcut thing im just surprised so many people used the stupid thing.

back in 1990 i let one sit on my keyboard for a year, before noticing i wasn't using it

precisely why I'm gonna de-yellow anything else that I put on the 'bay.
At least it's +1 for my feedback. That's a plus, I guess.

Must've been very tempting to Photoshop the pics to play down the yellowing.
Unless you already did, of course!
Unlucky with the final price. Whenever I get an ebay steal that cheap I usually add on some money to make it worth the seller's time, but I expect I'm in a small minority of people who do that.
-
I wouldn't photoshop anything past the degree of color tuning (with my calibrated monitor) and cropping.
Honestly, it's not that yellow. You should see my AEK, it's really yellow.
-
again, it isnt that yellow, it is the tanlines that kill me... and yours isnt any worse than normal. i might never own an AEKII.

Hypothetically, if I had whipped up some retrobrite and make it all white again, you think I'd have gotten more money for it?
They sure do look nice new.

:D yes!
when i was starting a collection, uneven yellowing made a huge difference in whether i'd even bid (e.g., keys are normal but space bar and case yellowed... you've heard this story before :)

I should have just added "rustic" somewhere in the description. People love things that are rustic for some reason.
-
yes, i agree, id rather have properly refurbished than original tanlines.
