Hi everyone, we are the TK team from China, this time we will announce our latest custom keyboard TANK V2 & TANK P1.
If you have any further questions, please leave a message in the post or send us an email at: 976739120@qq.com
Within the post are a few pictures. It is only a rough sample, just an initial look, in order to test the accuracy and the lighting effect. The final physical product won't look exactly like this. TANK V2 & P1 can be joined via interchangable parts, so you can put the PAD on the left or on the right. We may also introduce some additional widgets later on, in order to change the shape and design of the keyboard. There may be some other interesting ideas. Please stay tuned.
Thank you.

hmm. I wonder how much.
Assuming it's gonna be like $500 just for the case. crazyyy design tho.
-
Nice!
That said, some questions arise:
Can the side panels be dsigned in a way, that they also fit the numpad?
Or a combined TKL + numpad?
Does the numpad allow illumination (back and sides) as well?

Yeah, seen that.
But the combined TKL + numpad cannot currently be fitted with the side panel at the numpad end.
Neither can the numpad be fitted with two side panels.

Not sure what you mean. The numpad is designed to fit on either end, connected by the brass midpiece.

Yeah, it looks like a dual fitment numpad for either side of the keyboard, which is a REAL bonus for those wanting left side placement :thumb: .
Looks interesting as an Aluminum Keyboard hope this actually gets made and everyone gets their orders fulfilled.

I'm ready for this to be a thing.

ingenious design. looks like the keyboard and the numpad will both have their own usb plugs. i was curious how they would be electrically connected

The lowest pricings are approximately RMB 2399 and RMB 849 before shipping.
-
Cheaper than I thought, honestly.

TANK V1 !!

Interesting, in the market for a fancy numpad.
Will look forward to seeing more of this :thumb:

Hello everyone.
The TANK GB is open in China, and the team has reached out to me about possibly running the buy here. However, I already have ZZ96 and TriC, so running a third is likely too much, and having someone else run this would be ideal.
Taobao link to the GB (https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=686.1000925.0.0.4jkufF&id=530928771078). DO NOT just pay for it even if you can navigate Taobao, because international orders need to be sorted, w/ the various color and other options (WK/WKL, etc.) hashed out via PMs on QQ, and int'l orders also need to pay for shipping separately (around $55). If you pay the Taobao link without arranging things on this side, it will be unnecessarily complicated for me to sort out your order, and I will not be a happy camper.
The GB will be open until June 1st.
The GB operates on tiers, like MD. The highest price is 2699 RMB for v2 and 999 RMB for p1, w/ the v2 dropping by 150 RMB per 15 orders, and p1 by 50 RMB per 15 orders, down to a minimum of 2399 RMB for v2 and 849 RMB for p1. Therefore, every order counts. The Taobao link gives the lowest price possible to make it easy on the buyers, and if the tiers are not reached, the participants will need to tack on the difference.
These are sold as kits, with everything you need except switches and caps. The PCB included for the v2 has underglow which you can see in some of the pictures.
The cases will be numbered on the inside.
I'm thinking of having the participants use Taobao, w/ me acting as an intermediate organizer but not touching the funds, because I would like to see this buy be successful, and bring some more of the normally self-contained Chinese GBs abroad.
So here's the very barebones interest check form to gauge interest: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1tCjV0PphRQ7GDP5vmELwR_1MDx5QJil8m_mHaE_SGXY/viewform
The lowest price for the v2 is $375, and p1 is $133. Combine the two and you get $508. Add shipping on top of that and it comes to approx $560 for everything, plus 1% if using a credit card, and whatever international transaction fees are incurred.
Color options will come in the next couple of days, and I'll post them as they're released. However, to keep things moving, if you like the kit and find the price to be acceptable, please fill out the form sooner rather than later.
Color renders test: http://imgur.com/a/T18iN
Actual unanodized prototype: http://imgur.com/a/AQMHM
Both the V2 and P1 will have plates that support switch top removal.
The PCBs are from Hojin, so B.87 and B.Pad.

You're doin the lord's work, LD.

Thanks, I try.

Filled out the form. This is essentially a $600 board but it might still be worth it. That design is killer. The shipping hurts though. :-X

$600 before you even take into account the switches and keyset, so probably more like $750+ once completed. Definitely gonna have to liquidate some keyboard assets if I wanna jump in on this one!

Note that you can order one of them separately. Just specify it in the form notes.
-
Are any other third party PCBs compatible with this.
-
Must have both!
-
Sorry for bumping this, but will there any international GB for this keyboard? Or should I order it through TAOBAO instead? I could use dotdotbuy for buying from TAOBAO

Yes, I'll be running it. You can go with Taobao if you know Chinese or get someone to translate, as you'll need to pay for shipping separately and specify all the options and all that jazz, but it's certainly doable and would save me some hassle.
ZZ96 is sorted out for now (waiting to send the payments to manufacturers), still need to prep invoices for TriC, and I'd like to get some of those sorted out before getting started with TANK. I expect to open it before the 15th and make 21st the payment deadline to give me ample time to transfer the funds over to China. Due to the ~40 orders that already exist in China, we're pretty much certain to get the lowest price tier unlocked already, so that's what I'll go by. Still waiting to sort out some color/customization info from TANK before that happens.
-
I dont think there options for colors though on that taobao page

Which is why I said you need Chinese to specify all the options (within the order notes or afterwards via PM).

Update:
Will open up the buy over the next couple of days. The TANK team is considering changing up the anodizing to be "better" at a cost of about $50, and are also debating whether to offer it selectively. Without all the info hashed out, I cannot open the GB, and it is still set to conclude on the 30th.
The lowest price point has pretty much already been unlocked by the number of Chinese participants, so that's the price we're going by unless a significant number of cancellations occur depending on the decision of anodizing.
More info will come tomorrow.
If you intend to buy in, please fill out this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1tCjV0PphRQ7GDP5vmELwR_1MDx5QJil8m_mHaE_SGXY/viewform
If you have filled out the form but would like to back out, please reply to this thread or PM me to let me know.
Since the PCBs are from Hojin, I assume that most standard TKL/pad PCBs would fit without issue.
Assembly from the TANK team is provided free of charge, but switches cost 2.5 RMB per, LEDs cost 0.3 RMB per, and stabilizers cost 25 RMB for the board. Due to the unnecessary layer of complexity that this adds, I won't make it an option unless you PM me to request it specifically once the GB opens.
We will be operating on a very tight timetable, and I will probably front the costs for it since the money needs to be sent before the end of the month, and there's really not enough time w/ the time it takes folks to arrange payment and for me to consolidate them into one account before wiring them overseas.

To address some of the questions raised in the form:
Fully programmable, comes with the corresponding PCB, you can order one of them individually, the numpad can be attached to either side, all of the colors in the renders are available to choose from, you can choose the colors for the top/bottom/plate/backpiece, color options still TBD, has both WK and WKL options.
A reward for those of you who reached the end of this little update: http://sli.mg/a/38GbRy :thumb:

Nice update. ;)
I apologize, I filled out the form again without reading the rest of the post.

As much as I will regret it, will you please take my name off the list. Thanks

Thanks for the update Lunaris! The reward was tasty.

Any update on this LD? Also, is there a GB for Tank V1 somewhere?

I'm writing up the GB thread right now after receiving the final word on whether to use the "better" anodization. There was a group vote in China and the response was overwhelmingly in favor of yes, so now I have the final prices and can start up the GB.
V1 was run before, but I don't know when or the details regarding it.
-
Sounds good, thanks for the update :)
-
how much does the board weigh?
-
Looks cool, but I'm not a fan of the tacky detail on the sides, that make it look like a crazy spaceship design that cheap companies like Razer love to follow these days. Less is more. Other than that, great project.

;D Because the side widgets can be replaced, so basically it can be turned into any shape~in the future

It's certainly a niche product. TANK doesn't follow the design philosophies that some other customs have held. A clean look may be nice, but variety is nice as well (even if it's not to your tastes, personally), don't you agree?
-
very good!!! ;D
-
what ever happened with this gb ? Did it go through ? looks pretty cool.
