Title: Anyone know anything about CCTV cameras?
Post by: berserkfan on Wed, 20 April 2016, 11:25:31

I need to get a couple for indoor use. Thinking that it would be good if they could face each other, so that there are no blind spots.

Prefer cameras that can be positioned without drilling holes in the ceiling or walls.

What should I consider when buying a CCTV pair?

I have an array of Foscam FI8910W cameras at my business and I use iSpy (open source) to operate them and save videos. Most of the models now a days have a built in web server and output multiple formats of streaming video. Although I would probably not recommend the model I have as I worked very hard to get them to output the specified FPS but even with them hard wired I still get 8-9 fps (rated at 15fps).

If you want true clear HD, non blurry video I would recommend a PoE (power over ethernet) hard wired camera array. Most of the solutions now (in the sub $100 range) just dont output the best video, but they do come with wireless capabilities etc (but you still end up with wires because of the power cable).
