Corsair seems to be getting a lot of exclusive cherry mx switches. Gutsy the silent ones and now these shorter actuating ones.

I'm very interested in seeing if these switches can be bought separately somewhere.

Think it's odd they are calling them Cherry MX Grey considering there is already a Grey...
Also they spend all this time doing innovation on things i would argue most people don't care about and they STILL can't understand the concept of a standard bottom row lol.
They are at least trying to be different though so i have to give them that.

I'd be interested if they had a tactile version. I'm just not a linear fan, though.

Wouldn't that mean there's 3 greys, since there's linear and tactile greys.
And yeah, non-standard bottom is the worst.

RGB switches' clear housings(2014) copy Matias(2012), in fact it's the only way to get a Matias board with any backlight.
Silent switches(2015) copy dampened Alps(90's)
RealKey(2015) to the extent of my knowledge copies Microsoft Sidewinder X4(2010)
Rapid switches(2016) look like a copy of Razer switches(2014?), although it is amusing to see them copying the company claiming to make "the first mechanical gaming keyboard" in the video about the very switches(for reference the actual first is SteelSeries G6)
Until anyone shows me something Cherry actually were first to do in this century, I'll say that Cherry is BS. And I don't mean Buckling Spring.

There is a clicky gray also. :D

So this new switch from Corsair super rapid 1,2mm it`s just a copy of kailh? XD I dont understand :D But it is the first time that I see 1,2mm actuation point. Can u explane better?
Thank you

Fair statement
Though i never said they were the first to do it :p
Nothing really left that interests Me in cherry anymore anyways, hanging onto 2 of my cherry boards the rest are up for sale or will be soon. Only boards i want now beyond my HHKB's are a nice BS board and either a Matias Clicky or Quiet Click.

Why buy this, when you can get a linear ALPS board that already actuates higher up and is 10x smoother?
-
OMG... YES YES YES YES YES.. Finally...
YES.... OMG.. I'mma buy one just to harvest the switches... (http://img.emoticonplus.com/N4WYS.gif)

Corsair will have the best selling keyboard in 2016. This thing has everything: ugly gamer font, the overly dramatic advertisement, the faster actuation time that will make gamers think will improve their performance, and the non-standard bottom row because gamers buy new keyboards every year anyways and don't need to replace keycaps.

This makes fighting games better on the keyboard..
That's really the only game type which benefits from lower actuation distance.

Might as well as put in Cherry ML and call it a day.
-
If Corsair really wants to impress they will put Zealios in their boards.

If Corsair really wants to impress they will put Zealios in their boards.
Which they will never do since they aren't Cherry. Their marketing lately has been about being a 'real mech or nothing', and using 'real' MX switches is all part of that. Razor got bashed hard enough when they switched to Kaih's, Corsair doing that would kinda be suicide.
-
these switches will suck for typing, but willlbe great for gaming!
-
What a terribly annoying advertisement ...
-
Another new "exclusive switch" huh? Corsair's partnership with Cherry is really tight.
Corsair should have focused more on their product's diversity, instead of making one small change on the K70 RGB and call it the "fastest gaming keyboard" or whatever.
The K65 (both RGB and non-RGB) comes only with MX Reds. They should offer MX Blues or MX Browns as well for the K65.
And the overhype of the advertisement feels like they actually design something new. Nope, it is just an RGB K70 with a new "exclusive switch". I'll stick with my MX Reds.
If only Corsair would come up with boards equipped with Zealios or Gaterons. Then again, it won't happen.
-
I wasn't aware that corsairs durability was legendary. :))
Also that "demonstration" of the actuation differences.
That's not how any of this works.

CHERRY MX SPEED

CHERRY MX SPEED
I'VE GOT THE NEED
THE NEED FOR SPEEEEEEEEEED
-
it's cherry MX red with lower actuation point, right? (1.2 instead of 1.5mm) ?
maybe i have to try this..

The corsair rep that I met last weekend kind of laughed at me when I mentioned the bottom row and said "we're trying to work on that" Doesn't sound like a priority though.
I actually got one of these switches this weekend on a keychain, I'll need to take some pictures this week.
