Title: Ducky One Blue Grey PBT vs Filco Majestouch NINJA
Post by: DK201 on Sat, 23 April 2016, 08:50:04
Hi guys,

I am new in the forum. I saw many topic about Ducky vs Filco. I would like to ask a choice between Ducky One Blue Grey PBT and Filco Majestouch NINJA. Ducky recently release the new Ducky One with blue and grey scheme PBT keycaps. Filco ninja has elegant front print keycaps. Both of them have good qualities and compact key layouts. I am struggling to choose one between. I have a corsair K70 rgb red switches keyboard, love it. Now I want a blue or brown switches keyboard with sturdy built quality. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I would say if both of them are at the same price range, get the Ducky if you like PBT keycaps.
If you don't mind spending money on keycaps, that FILCO is your choice.
However, both of them are great choice, with great build quality.

Thanks for replying. Filco seems little bit more expensive than Duck One. But I heard Filco has the best built quality.  I am not sure about PBT keycaps. It seems much solider. Are they really different with ABS one? Can I feel the difference while typing? Cheers!

PBT keycaps have a more textured feel than ABS caps that you will notice. Most people like the texture though.

Also, PBT won't wear and shine like ABS keycaps after a while, meaning you'll always have that textured feel vs. ABS becoming worn down and smoother over time.

Does the Ducky come in white?

Most folks like the feel of PBT. It has a texture like soft pumice, is a little denser than ABS (which affects the sound they make), and is more durable. PBT won't wear down to a shine nor will it yellow with age. So if you plan to keep the stock keycaps, go with the Ducky and its PBT keycaps.

Full disclosure: I am a big fan of the Filco. I have three (four if you count the one with MX blacks that I want to sell). They are top-notch boards. I don't care about the stock keycaps because I never keep the stock caps on any keyboard anyway. You really can't go wrong with a Filco, build quality-wise.

But those colorful PBT caps may be the deciding factor for you...

Both have great quality, and I love the colors on the Ducky. It would be a simple choice for me.

The Ducky One stabilizers are awful clone Cherry stabilizers that will rattle your brain.

I had no knowledge of them, but had not heard any complaints myself. However, I have been away for a couple of years. Does anyone else hate the Ducky stabilizers?

I have a Ducky keyboard with those types of stabilizers, and I have no complaints. Then again, I'm using a Cherry MX Blue keyboard, so any rattling noises caused by the stabilizers are sort of lost in the click of everything else heh. :)

I guess comparing it to my other keyboard with Cherry stabilizers, there is a bit of rattling but again, it's not something I really notice with Cherry MX Blues.

If you are keeping the keyboard stock, then the ducky is probably the better keyboard due to the keycaps alone.  If you ever plan on changing keycaps in the future, then I would go with the flick.  The filco will feel better, just the stock keycaps aren't good.

I had to remove the stabs on my One TKL; it was so bad. Original black Cherry stabilizers are fine, not the red clone ones in the Ducky One.

It's just these red clone ones that rattle bad. My Shine 4 has different black ones that sound okay,

I'd seriously just get the Filco and buy some of those or other caps separately if you can. Maybe get the Filco, test it out, then shop for caps. MechanicalKeyboards.com is going to get some more of those Ducky caps soon,

Double checked my Ducky Shine 5 just to make sure. Definitely the red ones in my keyboard. :O

You also have pen-clickers in every key so maybe it's okay ;)

But's it could also have something to do with the Ducky One. I'll certainly never recommend that board,

Filco would just be better long term investment. Ducky One is okay, rattling aside, but it also resonates and pings more than my KUL or Varmilo too. I keep mine at work and keep my better boards at home,

Thanks guys, I might go for Filco ninja with brown switches if  Ducky one has that rattling stabilizers problem. Although Ducky has attractive blue grey PBT keycaps, I probably cannot stand the rattling sound.

If it's just the keycaps you like about the Ducky, then you should definitely go for the Filco. Then buy the Ducky keycaps and replace the Filco ones when they come back in-stock here: https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1321  :D

Problem solved. Filco + ducky blue grey PBT keycaps. Great combination ;D Cheers!

Like I said earlier, I love Filcos. I have three of them and they are terrific. But let's be fair, Costar stabilizers can rattle too.
