I like Mario Kart

I really want that Super Mario Maker game. I'm not the biggest gamers, but if I am gonna shell 300 for the console, what other games should I get?
Smash, SMW, Zelda, Mario Kart. Off the top of my head. I don't even have a Wii U.
Is Pikmin 3 Wii U?

Star fox is good and just came out. Mario Maker might be the best game out there

I wish they had crash bandicoot maker. OMG ROMEVI AM I RIGHT? SONY PLEASE I WILL BUY ALL THE PS4's
Don't mess with me, alien.

Yoshi's Wolly World is really fun. Even co-op!
I haven't played much else at this point in time but I have my eye on a lot of Wii U games, mostly platformers admittedly.

Bayonetta 2. Cannot recommend it enough.
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze: essentially like if Pixar made a Donkey Kong Country game
Mario Kart 8 is imo the best Mario Kart game ever made. Most polished with the most content.
Splatoon is a great new IP with innovative mechanics and is genuinly fun in groups. I still hate the art style though.
Smash is meh, but has tons of content and nostalgic crap. Pikmin 3 was meh. All those New Super Mario games I found endlessly dull. Kirby Cursed whatever The **** got old in about 30 minutes, never played it since. Mario Maker is fantastic but has a very limited shelf life and will become a beer coaster once N shuts down the servers. The Zelda HD remakes are great, but just recycled content so nothing new. In fact most of the other great games for the system I can think of are just remakes of older games, so I don't really count them.
My roommate really likes Xenogears, it looks ok. Kinda like an updated Phantasy Star in the few minutes I've watched him play.

glances over at Wii U games library
I like almost all the games I've purchased. I wouldn't shell 300 for the console at this point though, unless you're getting a very nice bundle.
I'll share some of my thoughts on games I have.
- Xenoblade Chronicles X - this game is great if you are looking for a deep RPG (and like the style), it has a significant learning curve, and you should really have a TV over 42' to enjoy properly. I've put like 40+hrs into the game and have barely scratched the surface. Probably not going to play again until I get a huge tv :/
- Pikmin 3 - a really short but incredibly fun game that works really well with single player and co-op. The DLC levels are also fun as well.
- Yoshi's Wooly World - cutesy but super fun to play, extremely casual and feels like the original Yoshi's Island but w/2015 graphics
- Mario Kart 8 - it's Mario Kart...needn't say more. Online is usually pretty laid back as well. I'm using tilt controls!
- Super Mario 3D World - if you like Mario, get this above all else...easily one of my favorites to play
- Smash Bros - really fun, but it's best with local co-op. I haven't played much by myself
- LoZ: Wind Waker HD - also fun, but once you beat it, not sure if playing it again is worth it. I finished well over a year ago, still don't feel ready to start anew.
- Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker - I really like this game, whether it's worth $40 depends how much you like the format. Probably even more casual feeling than Yoshi's WW.
I might get Super Mario maker at some point, it would be a good exercise in stretching the creative muscle and learning good level design. I also want to check out the new Star Fox, seems pretty decent. I also want Bayonetta and maybe Splatoon.

I second Yoshi's Wolly World and if I'm not mistaken they have a paper mario game coming soon.
Honestly Nintendo is the only console I'll even consider buying. xbox and playstation seem to be competing with pc gaming.

If you like Nintendo games, get it.
You can get most older Nintendo games through their game store and there are plenty of fun new games.
I love Wooly World and there are of course other games like Mario Kart and Smash that people enjoy tremendously.

isn't nintendo NX coming out soon? :)
-
Just too affirm what others have said, Mario Kart 8 is amazing. The soudntrack is one of the best on the console and it looks very pretty.
This might sound silly but, Nintendo Land is actually a pretty fun game to play with friends. It's their Wii Sports type of launch game that it came with my refurbished Wii U. It's basically a bunch of mini-games based on popular Nintendo games that you play with your Mii. Not ashamed to say I put in quite a few hours with that game.
I haven't played Mario Maker, but I hear it's one of the greatest things to happen to Nintendo in a while.

Yeah, I'm holding out till we hear more (hopefully at E3) about the NX and praying it's got backwards compatibility for all the WiiU games I've missed out on.

sadly nintendo announced that they won´t be showing the NX at E3, they will instead focus on the zelda game. NX release date was announced this morning to March 2017.

Wii: Dust Collector 2
It's a huge commitment though, have to play all day.

Damn, really? That's a bummer. Now I don't know whether my desire to play new Zelda will trump my desire to not buy a WiiU, especially if NX details are up in the air.

It's always best to jump into a console's life at either:
- the first revision
- announcement of the next console's release.

LoZ Twilight Princess. Do it.

LoZ Twilight Princess. Do it.
Amazing game although I still think an HD remake is silly. That game looks crazy good on the GC and Wii. Same thing with Windwaker HD. Cash grab?

Not sure I'd recommend spending $300 on the console, but I have to ask what that would come bundled with? I picked mine up used with three games, a wiimote, and pro controller for just over $200 a few years back. If you can spend less than that then I believe it is very much worth it if you enjoy Nintendo's games.

+1 to all of that except using tilt controls for Mario Kart. ಠ_ಠ

+1 to this as well. Great game to play with a few friends for an hour or two.

would just be a new bundle with mario maker and the amibo 32gb console. might start looking for used ones though.
Gotcha. TBH I myself probably still would have bought at full price, but the used deal made it that much easier. If you don't mind buying used, I'd look around for a deal, but buying new has its perks as well of course.
-
Not sure if they still do this, but I got my 32GB refurbished from Nintendo for like $200. Felt brand new and came with a gamepad and Nintendo Land.
Worth checking out if it could save you $20-40. :thumb:

Think of the NX as the WiiU 2.0 with a heavy focus on mobility.
All I'll say ;)
your wiiu games will be fine
-
They should release a Nintendo Fone.. along with the NX...
Everyone will just switch to it instead..
