I have a Poker 3 which got wet so I'm replacing all the switches, plus I don't like the Cherry Browns it came with anyway. I have a bag of replacement browns, but I changed my mind. I have a 3 boards with Gateron Browns which are at the moment my favorite switch, but don't need a 4th board with these.
I have about 60 Gateron brown switches left, but want to experiment with a different switch. I see all these custom 62 and 65 g switches, but those are too heavy for me. I'm considering replacing the springs in the Gateron Browns with lighter springs like 35g. Do these spring kits exist and is this a possible modification? Gateron makes a 35g linear switch, but I wish I could try it first before buying them and putting in all the work. I'd hate to install them and then hate it and never use it again. I recall seeing a thread about "typing with reds" a while back. I'm going to revisit that as well.

This is certainly something you could do, but I'd imagine if you go too low on spring weight the switch won't come back up. Check on the classifieds for bags of springs, and don't forget the freebies thread.

I can mail you a few 35g springs from gateron clears.

Spamray, I appreciate the offer. This is kind of you. I have decided that going lighter will probably be too light and the switch may lose it's responsiveness, as you say. This may be why gateron only offers the 35gf switch in a linear style. I was loving Gaterons for a while but am now back as Cherry Brown as my favorite switch.
So is the quest for the perfect keyboard. I may try some Kaihls or Greetech for something different, but for now I'm back to Cherry. Even though the PBT has a nice texture, the Cherry brown seems more responsive with the ABS keycaps, so this is now my daily driver until I find something I like better, though it's nice to have different boards to switch it up.
