I've been thinking about things the Infinity ErgoDox's display could be used for. I've cobbled together a script (https://github.com/etomzak/ErgoDox-Notify/blob/master/notify-push.pl), sort of a background daemon, to display the number of Linux desktop notifications. Something similar could be used to display the currently playing song, the subject line of the last received email, etc.
I'm curious what regular ErgoDox users would use the displays for.
At the moment, the script occasionally drops data when writing to the display. I'm trying to come up with something that could be done about that.

On my keyboard (not an Ergodox) I use it for:
- layer name
- lock status (Num/Caps/Ccrol lock)
- flag whether marcos/programs are enabled
- current light level from light sensor (besides that the light sensor controls brightness of the LEDs)
- short help when defining on-the-fly remaps or macros
