Hey everyone!
I'm a young programming student from Melbourne Australia, I've always had an interest in electronics but have never had an opportunity to get into it, recently though I have become slightly obsessed with mechanical keyboards and consumed with the idea of making my own.
Particularly interested in 40% and 60% keyboards, they are so novel.
I have very little knowledge and am just going to jump in the deep end and make a bunch of mistakes so expect a bunch of "please help me!" posts haha
Already looking into the keyboard layout editor and am thinking I will try doing a hand wired matrix to start, wouldn't have a clue where to start with a pcb.
Looking forward to being a part of the forums!

Welcome to Geekhack!
The making stuff together (https://geekhack.org/index.php?board=117.0) section is probably a good place to start reading - lots of threads about soldering, components and keyboard building.
Also have a look for GH60 and JD40 - two keyboards designed by GHers and available in kit form (on and off, depending on where, when and who).
