Title: Kombucha

So how does GH feel about kombucha? The first time I got it the initial vinegar scent threw me off and I didn't like it at all. Additionally it gave me some wicked heart burn.

Last week I tried another brand from Trader Joe's and found it weirdly delicious and refreshing. Still smells of vinegar, but the overall taste is good. Not super sure what the health benefits are, but from what I understand you need to drink like a glass a day to keep the flora in your stomach at optimal levels and do so for at least a few weeks to notice whatever benefits there are.

Gonna keep drinking it for like 10 days and see what happens  :thumb:

The kind you get at the store taste nothing like the traditional brew..

The reason.. the traditional stuff is ~~kinda~~ sometimes poisonous..

The health benefits of Kombucha seem to be overstated from what I've read. Still tasty though.

My GF makes kombucha, its made from tea with sugar. From what shes told me and what ive seen its a living bacteria colony that turns the sugar in the tea into vinegar.  Theres a "mother" (bacteria colony) that you transfer from batch to batch that produces the end product. Pretty cool to see it made, i like it for sure.

My bro hooked me up with some scoby. I like mine to where it is tingly on my tongue and has a mild alcohol percentage. I've fermented a few batches to where it is all vinegar and that is most definitely not my jam :confused:
