Title: Hello from NYC!
Post by: Mr.Lunchbox on Sun, 08 May 2016, 22:51:10
Hello everyone!

I just started to get into mechanical keyboards. I used to have a Razer Black Widow TE (I know I know) But now I have moved on to an HHKB Pro 2 and I got bit with the bug. I just ordered a bunch of Zealio 67g and GON parts and am super excited to be building that this summer. I look forward to being part of this community!

Welcome aboard fellow builder, I think building is most fun especially if you hand wire them.

hahaha, yeah, after the GON I'll probably be taking a break for awhile from making any big purchases. Maybe a keyset or two (i really want this https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=81016.0 (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=81016.0) to be made) but no more customs for the foreseeable future.

I probably wont tackle hand wiring on my first build but it's definitely on my list. The satisfaction just from looking at a perfectly wired pcb is great let alone actually doing it.

Thanks for the welcome!

Welcome to Geekhack!

You have seen the light and acquired a great keyboard in the HHKB :)

But you still want more?  Many get an HHKB last, and sell all their other keyboards.  Then there are some who just keep collecting them ...

The HHKB may very well end up being my endgame board but I just wanted to build one too.

I will definitely be modding my HHKB, I already have some silencing rings from hypersphere coming and some lube from techkeys. Definitely want to do the Hasu controller and eventually, way down the road, do a 55g dome swap (that is one expensive mod.)

Dome swap your HHKB to 55g? Yikes

Yeah man, I've come across multiple threads about people swapping the realforce 55g domes into HHKBs. Just too bad you have to buy the realforce  just to do it.

I've seen more than a few people regard the 55g topre as the creme de la creme. (I'll be getting a switch tester just to make sure I prefer it of course.)

55g is said to be the best Topre switch.  A shame a 55g HHKB was never made.

And it is very sad that a 55g RealForce must be sacrificed to make a 55g RealForce.  With care you can put the 45g domes into the RealForce and try to sell the resultant ghetto variable RealForce.
