Title: Greeting from Austin

I'm a Clacker from Austin. I'm mainly on the Reddit under a different user name, but I've missed out on enough GBs that I have decided to get in on the GH as well.

Keyboard collection:

Das Model S Ultimate: Stock blues, thick blank black PBT caps

Das II: Stock. Gotta love the rebranded G80-3000 with blank POMs.

Leopold FC660M: Stock Blues. This one is a little rare, because I got it with Leopold black blank PBTs. I also have a HolyOOPs Arc Reactor esc.

Upcoming Project:

FC660M to Clueboard Conversion: I have a Clueboard PCB in transit as we speak, and I plan on using the original Leopold case and plate and just swapping out the PCB and switches. (I have some Zealios waiting to be put on the Clueboard) I'm also going to be clipping the stabs, and putting a white LED under the esc.

That's a nice collection - bit of a difference in size between the DAS and the FC660M! I vaguely recall the hype when the DAS first came out with blank keycaps and thought it was so exotic. Now keyboards like that are much more commonplace.

The project sounds interesting - a little bit of a few different mods and nothing too over the top - good luck with it :)

So, I started desoldering the Leopold, and I learned desoldering is a lot harder than I thought. I originally wanted to salvage the PCB and the switches, but my first venture into desoldering showed that I wouldn't be able to do that.

Womp, womp.

But I'm going to finish the project soon and I'll be using my pretty new Clueboard in no time.

But not all soldering is easy and not all desoldering is difficult imo. Anyway, hope the Clueboard assembly goes smoothly. I would definitely read the build log should you decide to post one :)

Yeah from here, I took others and edited them in photoshop to represent mine, but you could also do it in paint if you really wanted to.

Correct.

There's dozens of threads here about desoldering - have a quick read and maybe someone has found a few tricks that might help.

I have a broken BWU we can double team lol. I have been meaning to use it as practice but I just haven't had the time.

I used a motherboard from an oldass computer for soldering practice. It didn't do much for desoldering because the metal used for the solder on the motherboard had a much higher melting point than the solder used on keyboard switches.
