Title: Looking for places in the UK
Post by: ScopeyD on Wed, 18 May 2016, 21:50:20
Just wondering if anyone knew of any good places over here in the UK to pick up keycaps?

I've been looking online and I've found a few places but I'm sure there is some I'm missing.

Using a QFR so obviously no issues with fittings.

Thanks

Depends on what you are looking for.

AFAIK all the keycap manufacturers are in the US, China or Germany, so obviously if you're in one of those countries you're off to a good start.

Everyone else generally either buys from the online stores of the manufacturers in the above countries (if any), or participates in a group buy, either here, one of the other keyboard enthusiast sites, or via Massdrop.

[CTRL]ALT are in the UK, and have done a few group buys, but again the keycaps are generally manufactured in the US or China and shipped in bulk to the UK.

Ducky caps can be found on PC hardware websites (you've probably found these) or there are some cheap and cheerful sets in stock on UKKeycaps (http://www.ukkeycaps.co.uk/product/tai-hao-abs-iso-white-with-black-legend-doubleshot-keycaps).

Most of the sets you see on here come from group buys where you pay a stranger months in advance and hope to get caps at the end.  That sounds bleak and usually it works out fine...

All depends how far down the rabbit hole you want to go :))

I'm in UK. It sucks here for keyboard things, like most other things. I've imported more things than I've probably ordered from UK itself.

I'm from Sweden and I have some ISO/Nordic k-boards and 1 ISO/UK k-board and it is a hell to find ISO/Nordic keycaps sets. We only have  1 shop here in Sweden to buy ISO/Nordic keycaps sets from, 2 Ducky  and some WASD + some metal keycaps sets.

So I bought a ANSI k-board (have 5 now) for some years ago and now I only buy ANSI keycaps sets. So for me the ISO layout is dead, I never gonna buy a ISO k-board again.

Edit: I was thinkin to buy this set for my ANSI k-boards: http://www.mechsupply.co.uk/product/dsa-royal-navy

I'm in the UK. ukkeycaps.co.uk and their group buy site mechsupply.co.uk are in the UK.

Other than that, you pretty much happen to buy internationally. Just the way it is!

Yeah Denmark is not better, I suspect even worse than the UK.
I've had to import pretty much everything. And we have to pay 25% on everything we buy from another country, it gets added and we don't get the packages until we pay. It's been pretty damn expensive, but I have no other alternative.
