I'm trying to decide whether to even bother swapping my fc660m back to the stock Leopold PBTs, just to see what it feels like now that I've put Zealio switches in it.
Is there such a thing as "Once you GMK, you always stay" ?
-
I switch back and forth all the time, currently using GMK (TA) on MX reds, or SA on MX blacks, or Tai Hao ABS on MX blues, or Tai Hao PBT on something else.
Variety is the spice of life!
-
Thick rough PBT all the way.
-
I switch between EnjoyPBT and ABS (GMK/JTK) all the time. Very different typing experience even with the same switches.
-
I also switch between them frequently. Dolch GMK and black EnjoyPBT blanks here.
-
but GMK + Zealio is so so lovely!!!!
OK. Guess I'll give it a try...
..sometime...
thx

As long as the PBT isn't that Cherry lookalike that is defective where you see the stem mount from the exterior of the cap then I think I prefer PBT a bit for most uses. It just feels like it is a better designed plastic for keycaps overall than ABS. I kind of like saving the GMK for special occasions and use PBT as my main workhorse.
-
I prefer BSP and Gateron PBT over GMK. GMK feels a bit drier and not as comfortable to type on.
-
ABS is ass
-
GMK feel terrible to me. Can't stand typing on them. They feel very tacky. Was gutted as got a great set but felt like a step down after using PBT
-
GMK w/ lubed vintage cherry mx with korean springs is keyboard pr0n ;)
JTK is equally good too!
-
Never met an ABS cap that I didn't immediately hate.
-
I switched from GMK back to OG Cherry because I prefer the feel :))
-
Yes, all the time.
I only ever put on GMK for a short period, because I like aestethics (bright powerful colours which normally can't be done in PBT because you can't dye-sub light legends onto dark colours).
After a few days when I'm grossed out enough by the ABS feel, I immediately switch back to any of my lovely PBT sets.
It might be subjective, but to my skin (maybe sweat/oil type), ABS starts to feel very uncomfortably sticky after only a minute of use.

I might be the only one :(
I hate PBT, especially the thick one
it takes away a slight bit of the switch feel due to the thickness... I think

You don't like thick PBT yet you like thick ABS such as GMK?

I absolutely love the feel of my Gateron PBTs. GMK is a close second though, and I prefer the colour combinations available with GMK caps.

I like gmk due to the profile. But if I can ever find such profile, with the colorway I fancy and thinner. I might change
For me most double shot abs is the same, none thicker than the others
-
It's a toss up for me. There are some great Cherry profile PBT keycaps, but GMK keycaps are amazing. For reference I've tried a bunch of PBT sets (Cherry profile blanks, Pok3r, Vortex PBT, Granite DSA, etc) and lots of ABS (SA, DSA, Cherry, GMK, OEM, vintage cherry sphericals (similar to DSA but lower in height), Honeywell (similar to SA, but way thicker)).
My favorite PBT I've owned so far has been the Originative Hangul set I had on my Pok3r, but aside from that all my favorite sets are ABS: Nuclear Data, GMK Triumph Adler, Danger Zone, and ones I don't own yet (Calm Depths, Sky Dolch, Round 5/6 Space Cadet/Honeywell).

pbt or nuthing
but i do admit there is nothing that really comes close to gmk in terms of aesthetics
-
Yes, me. I love the texture. I still like the occasional GMK set because, as ileben put it, you can get nice, aesthetically pleasing sets with colors that pop, but as for feel I prefer boring ol' PBT.
-
I switch back and forth. Love thick cherry profile pbt for the feel and sound.
And GMK because it looks great and photographs really well.

yupppp^ PBT for the feels, but you know GMK has god-tier cherry-profile colorways. JTK is also making ABS stuff that rivals GMK
