Title: Lexmark M13 with AT and RS232?
Post by: captiantofuburger on Thu, 19 May 2016, 12:03:01
Was cleaning out a storage room at work and came across a '95 M13 Beige with an AT/Serial cable. I would imagine AT keyboard and Serial for the mouse.
Unfortunately the rubber cable sleeve has been damaged somehow. It looks like it was done post storage. Doesn't look like anything has been cut down past the shielding or even to the cables inside.
Does anyone have any info on this? I can't seem to find anything about the Lexmark M13 variant. Let alone AT and RS232 on a '95 keyboard seems odd to me. Also there is no PS2 pass-through because it's a serial mouse.

**** me, I've never seen something like that before Oo . Maybe it was custom-made for old terminals or something?

I think you're right, an AT connector for the keyboard and a serial connection for the trackpoint. Just like my Cherry G80-11903 has two connectors (both PS/2 in this case) for the keyboard and the touchpad.

I do live right by one of the original IBM facilities built in the 50's. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_Rochester My thoughts is maybe it was a custom short run built just for them and some how ended up in my companies basement. We used to have box loads of Model M's 5150s XTs etc. I know we did source a lot of equipment directly from them back in the early 80's even to 90's.
