Title: Realforce 87U + Tekgadget Keypad = Numlock Nightmare
Post by: didjamatic on Wed, 23 December 2009, 11:18:58
I got a Tekgadget KP-701 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012JG30E?ie=UTF8&tag=scsiscsi-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0012JG30E) keypad (blue cherries) the other day and realized the numpad won't work unless you have numlock on.  But if you have numlock on and an 87u connected, the tenkey is activated on the 87u alpha keys.  Makes the tekgadet keypad all but unusable for me.  Has anyone dealt with this?  Maybe a dip switch change could disable the keypad on the 87u, but preferrably reprogramming the KP-701 to stay in numlock on status.

Yep, DIP switch 3 will sort you out. I have it on in case I plug in other boards at the same time. Thankfully the NumLock key still works, it just doesn't change what the 87U's letter keys do.

Edit> The NumLock LED on the 87U doesn't light with DIP 3 on. But don't worry, numlock is still doing its job!

123lj123lkj132lkj123lkj132lkj132  It works!

At first it didn't work, I needed to unplug/replug usb after the dip switch change and then it works perfectly.  Thank you!

I could have read the back of the box, I didn't realize it had dipswitch info on it.

I've been looking at this keypad for use with a Filco Zero.  Is there any way (perhaps by using Autohotkey) to get it to act independently of the main keyboards num lock?
