Title: How Do I Fix a Key Getting Stuck?
Post by: OnTheBrink on Wed, 25 May 2016, 22:28:04
This cherry MX blue switch still clicks and gives the tactile feedback, but it regularly get's stuck halfway down.

What is the best way to fix this?

Thanks

pull the cap off,  check the stem.. it may be warped..

If you have a caliper , measure the stem diameter at different spots.

end of the day, if nothing is wrong with the keycap..   you just need to hit the key ~10,000 times for complete smoothness.

Try pressing the switch with the keycap off and see if it sticks to eliminate a problem with the keycap.  If it still sticks there may be some moisture or crap which got inside the switch, or as TP4 said the stem could be warped.

1 Purchase some medium fine grade sandpaper from your local hardware store
2 tear off a 4 square cm section and roll it into a tight tube\ vagina straw, just wide enough to fit over the stem.
3 carefully and gently rotate the vagina straw onto the stem ensuring a tight fit.. you may find the internal edge tries to dog ear over but just be persistent and carefully roll it on
4 begin a circular rotating motion, back and forth, depending of the grit of the sandpaper this may take several go's.. be patient and dont take too much off or you will expose the internal structure and it will be botched !
5 Keep trying it back on switch every 2 or 3 sandings and you will find it will stop biting the edge.
6 IMPORTANT - Wash and dry the keycap each time you try it back on the switch or you will dump plastic powder down into the switch mechanism..
