for fast typing speeds. because of the smaller distance each key has to travel?
-
By that logic Selectric Typewriters are the best because that's what Barbara Blackburn used.[/URL]
Well, description of Selectric's keyboard action resembles that of laptop's ones:
Contrary to popular opinion (as expressed in a January 30, 2009 segment about Unicomp on National Public Radio), the Model M's "feel" is nothing like that of the Selectric typewriter line's. The Selectric has a short, relatively light stroke with a slight resistance at the end of travel. Though there is an audible click, it is not as loud as the sound of the printing mechanism.

Did someone say Beam Spring? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXQHacn3M34)

Fast they may be, but not everyone will consider them the most comfortable. In addition, the scissor switch mechanism is quite sensitive to dirt.

for fast typing speeds.
no. the best keyboard for fast typing speeds is the keyboard you type fastest on.
-
I'd have to concur with alpslover on this one. All the short throw keyboards I have, even though they can be fun to type on, don't give me any sort of speed boost.
-
I hate laptop keyboards. They don't take a good pounding I give to keyboards. And they're too small.
-
Never believe Wikipedia. Teach your children well.
Oh no, that can't be true! Please fix your Selectric to match Wikipedia's idea about its keys :-/
-
I guess it was a short stroke by typewriter standards...
-
That sounds more like it.

lenovo keyboards are not bad, as for my x61, good feedback on keys
-
Supposedly the keyboards on the Lenovo X-series are the best. My T61 flexes quite badly at the top right. And little over a year and a half after I got it, the keyboard is starting to feel quite worn in places.
Either way, they work well and you can type quickly on them.
-
I type fastest on my BS boards, not my laptop.

Dell has some new, full-size keyboards that have scissor switches that aren't bad at all. They are very crisp, and don't have any rubber dome mushiness. For short-throw switches, they are very nice. I like them a lot better than Cherry MLs.
-
Dell definitely made some better scissor-switch keyboards. The only problem with some of their laptop ones however is lack of sufficient support, resulting in the keyboard being kind of flimsy when using it on some models.

I'll agree with that. Mine flexes a little when typing.
