Title: Replacement Plate full size like "Phantom"
Post by: Shihatsu on Sat, 28 May 2016, 03:10:53
Hi guys, I want to mod my Filco Full Size ISO to be able to open switches without desoldering the switches. So I am looking for a replacement plate in phantom style. Can you recommend one? O, and hi gh.

Don't think there are any that are readily available but you can create your own and have it made if that interests you.

Welcome to gh :)

If not a fullsize perhaps you could use a phantom and a separate tenkey plate? Depends how it's hel together..

Huom, there isn't a full size plate available. Designing one by myself.... where to start? Never did anything similar? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

The easiest way is to go to www.keyboard-layout-editor.com and create the layout, then use can use swill's website (see this thread (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=65189.0)) to convert it to a CAD file to get cut :thumb:

probably best to check the measurements when doing that I seem to recall it not just defaulting to the phantoms spacing

Correct. You'd need to adjust the spacing of the nav cluster in CAD. Probably the numpad too.  Basically just measure carefully before you have anything cut.

From the Deskthority Phantom Wiki (https://deskthority.net/wiki/Phantom):Mounting plate CAD drawings (http://deskthority.net/resources/file/1507). Might be helpful?
