My wife just texted me. 2 dead and campus is on lockdown. Be safe out there guys.

I was driving south on 405 and saw a bunch of police cars speeding on the opposite direction and knew something was up. Then my wife texted me.

Terrible stuff to see :(
My thoughts go out to those affected <3

Apparently a murder-suicide. Two males dead, in the engineering building. Weapon found. I believe the threat is over now.
-
Yup, the lockdown is now lifted. Westwood has always been a safe area unlike USC and its surrounding neighborhood.

do explain,
I'm studying for engineering exams as we speak, and committing a murder suicide is certainly on the list of things I'd rather be doing.

Dear lord, I'm glad I didn't decide to do my PhD in the US Oo .

How can anywhere in the USA be considered a "safe neighbourhood" as long as there is gross social inequality and it is dead easy to get a gun?

Yes please. It is not a weapon problem. If you look world wide, there is zero correlation between gun ownership and gun violence.

Anti American circlejerk commence.
I'll be sitting this one out.

Yeah. When anyone mentions America, especially in regards to gun laws, Europeans just jump straight onto their high horses. There is nothing more infuriating than trying to argue with these people.
Mods please temp ban me until this thread is locked for the sake of my sanity.

It was strange watching the development of the story on the BBC website as it started by saying that police "thought they had found the shooter" and I was just thinking; well they obviously found a gun at the scene of the two fatalities, in a way that made it look like one of the person had committed suicide.
I dunno, thought it was weird.
And FWIW, I want a gun. I want to move to the US just so I can own a Mosin Nagat.

Seriously, stop. Nobody yet has made it public why his incident occurred.
