Title: Xwhatsit issues one down one left
Post by: Melvang on Mon, 06 June 2016, 17:47:46
So I finished up my Kishsaver and wired up the buzzer.  For it inside,  installed the capsense software and urged in my keyboard as usual to get it going.   Only to be met with a multitude of could not open device errors.  I was using a laptop with win 10, and no other USB devices plugged in.  Windows saw it as IBM capsense something or other,  but the software wouldn't open.

Any ideas?

I am working away from home so I won't have access to it until this weekend.

Got this issue working now new issue, details in bottom post.

You mean the GUI that xwhatsit would have you download from his server?  That took a few tries on my end as well.  Try unplugging and replugging, then click "cancel driver search" when the driver window pops up.

Yeah,  that's what I was having issues with.  Will try the cancel driver when I get home.

Well, I did some testing today and I think something has ran amok with that xwhatsit controller.  I thought possibly something was up with the buzzer or the ribbon cable.  So I desoldered everything, and just plugged in the bare xwhatsit.  Same issue.  Tried with another xwhatsit that had also never been plugged in and that one worked just fine.  So, I think there is an issue with that one controller.

Ok, with that issue fixed, I have one final issue.  I installed the buzzer and it works, but when I set a key to Toggle EXP, which I am guessing is to toggle the expansion header on and off, the buzzer sounds constant.  Do I have this wired goofy, or is it correct?

Issue found, but no idea on how to fix it, will start a new thread looking for help on this front in MST.
