Pretty sure "MX" already means Cherry MX?
-
Plus it's a G80. I have one just like it.
-
It's MX browns, just FYI
-
Is this a good price?

It looks like LRDUS just means that it doesn't have the ports for plugging in barcode readers.

Pretty sure these are MX Browns with lasered POM caps
-
I bought one. Theoretically, I am getting a couple of bare boards from Berserk/Gutz and that is a pretty good bag of switches and caps.
Too bad they are ISO-style Enter, and I hope that most of the clear tops are still there, just because.

removed.

I will report next week when I get mine.
But, as for that number ....
I thought that the leading "L" meant "lasered" and the trailing "US" meant US (ie ANSI) layout. Obviously, I am not a Cherry guy, but was I wrong?

"C:\Program Files (x86)\SynWrite\Syn.exe" "t.txt" "t1.txt" "t2.txt"

Yes, probably... I just didn't want anyone getting ticked at me if they turned out to be rubbies.

It's funny, isn't it, how G80s are split between ISO and ANSI Enter keys? The former aren't actually ISO boards, of course, so you'd assume they did that to make the layout more compact. But then why did Cherry use ANSI Enters on so many of their other compact POS boards?

Keep in mind that Cherry's a German company, so some of their designations may be based on German words.
I've often wondered about all this. Does G80 just mean a board with MX switches? It seems like such an oddly specific designation, considering what a large number of dissimilar G80-* boards (https://deskthority.net/wiki/Category:Cherry_G80_series) Cherry marketed. Were MXs introduced in 1980? Maybe the G stands for a German word related to "switch"? (As far as I know, "switch" in that sense is "schalter".) It's interesting trying to unravel these things.

I got mine today - MX clear - seems pretty clean and not badly worn. Missing 7 clear relegendable covers.
Great deal for a parts donor as far as I can see.

Thanks for confirming the switchage, F. I'm sorry to hear yours was missing some covers, as that wasn't hinted at in the photo or description. And yet, one can't complain too much at this price.
I realize you'll be parting yours out, but are replacement Cherry relegendables available anywhere?

The photo shows 1 missing. Since I am not a Cherry guy anyway, I am not too worried, but they are kind of neat. Too bad the F keys are stepped to receive them and may look funny without the tops.
My son may like to use a few on his gaming board.

Let me know if you need some relegendables I'm sure I can scrounge up some.
And that's awesome it has clears.

Guys, I am really sorry. I always say that I am not a Cherry guy, so maybe this is common. Otherwise, WTF? Who would do this?
When I got the keyboard the other day, I pulled one key cap to see what switches it had.
Guess which one I pulled:

It is typical to have a heavier spacebar switch in older cherry boards.
And I thought they should have been browns.

Spacebar I am fine with. I pulled the topmost right key. What would have made that one want to be different?

Apparently that's how Cherry made them. See my post in the previous thread you posted this in.

Clearly that is the case. I feel bad that I got this keyboard, pulled one key cap, reported back and got people's hopes up.
How could anyone possibly imagine that they would have that one switch only different from all the rest?

It could happen to anyone, and I would've assumed the same thing. God only knows why Cherry designated that lone key as MX Clear.

LOL this is amazing
though the keycaps look quite nice still so I wouldn't mind buying one just for those if I lived in the states

What's wrong with browns? And twenty bucks for a whole board of 'em? Life is good.
