Title: Any electronics gurus? Received a board with missing SMD LED. Help identify?
Post by: TheVengeance on Mon, 13 June 2016, 11:36:53
So I need to track down and replace the missing LED from an RS84 I received.

First shows where it's missing, second photo shows the LED at another location: http://imgur.com/a/SXkTV

Physically these are identical: (http://www.mouser.co.uk/Optoelectronics/LED-Lighting/LED-Emitters/Standard-LEDs-SMD/_/N-b1bb1?P=1z0ysweZ1yp37eaZ1yzunil), but one is 10x brighter than the other with 10x the current requirements and I don't know how to test / identify what is on my board already.

Many thanks guys.

Take the value from one of the resistors. Get a few LEDs and breadboard them with a resistor which matches the ones on the KB. You should be able to match the brightness this way. As for color match, there's no way to know. You'll just need to try different LEDs 'till you find one you're happy with.

You probably won't, just buy all new LED's to get a matching set.
