Title: Plum mx96 not working with PS/2
Post by: Denonic on Sun, 26 June 2016, 22:17:01
Hi all,

I've just received a Plum mx96 from Taobao (which I went through hell to get...) Disappointingly I have found that it is the wired version.  That would've been fine by itself but after trying it with a PS/2 adapter which it was said to work with, I get nothing but a power light from the Esc LED.

Now I've gone ahead and done something interesting to see if the inputs are actually being transferred through the PS/2 adapter.  I've gone and connected it to a blue cube via a PS/2 adapter like this:
Interestingly, when plugged in this way, I can get the keyboard to switch between the NKRO and 6KRO modes via Fn+F12 (Esc LED blinks twice to confirm the change) but there is still no other input.  It seems to be sending some kind of signal through PS/2 but keystrokes aren't.

When plugged in via PS/2 only, the ESC light stays on when the computer is powered down but turns off as soon as it turns on.  Fn+F12 does nothing plugged in this way.  I'm thinking this has something to do with the keyboard starting in NKRO mode over USB.  I haven't figured out a way to make it start in 6KRO mode. I've tried holding Fn+F12 while plugging it in but still no dice.

Does anybody have any experience getting it to work over PS/2?  Maybe someone with the wireless version can give it a try to see if they changed it for the wired version?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.
