Title: Spacebar problems!
Post by: schoeps on Tue, 28 June 2016, 00:41:26
Hey

The spacebar on my Poker II is causing a few issues - it looks like the stabilizers on the sides are not "springing" back. The switch itself works fine.

Any suggestions on an easy fix would be much appreciated!

thanks

The stabilizers shouldn't spring back on their own. Is the spacebar slow to come back up?

it doesn't come up at all...sticks down and doesn't move. Could it be the O-rings and/or DSA keycaps?

I tested the switch itself and that's clicking away as normal

UPDATE: removed O-rings and made no difference. Spacebar goes down but doesn't come back up :( I don't have a spare spacebar at work so will have to try changing that when I'm home

Poker 2 has Cherry stabilisers (right?).

When you remove the space bar, it is normal for the stabiliser bits to stay down.  It is the force of the spring in the space bar switch that, when a space bar is properly inserted, brings both switch and stabilisers (and space bar) back up to the top of the stroke.

When you put the space bar on, make sure it is firmly pressed down on each side.  You'll know if one or both sides aren't fitted properly as the space bar will not be flat, one side will be higher than the other, and/or it will rattle from side to side.

Also Cherry stabilisers are somewhat unforgiving for even minor variations in stem placement under the space bar.  If you can, definitely try a different space bar (particularly the stock space bar, if you still have it).

it seems to be the metal part that is the issue - it doesn't have any "bounce" back.

wondering if it came loose somehow

UPDATE: the DSA spacebar must be the issue - stock one on and working well

Thanks for the help!  :thumb:

Same thing happened to me, was from a warped PBT space bar, maybe check if your DSA cap is warped?
