Title: Vinyl wrap on a HHKB?
Post by: chryos1029 on Thu, 14 July 2016, 06:28:49
Is there anyone out there has tried vinyl wrapping a HHKB?
Is it hard and will it easily peel off?
Got bored of my black HHKB appearance and want a woody style for my keyboard  :p

I believe I've seen it done, but I wouldn't do it.  Vinyl wrapping almost always looks cheap and ****ty, especially on something with corners and sharp edges.

Definitely check out hydro dipping! MorbidStix will take custom orders; I think that is where livingspeedbump sent his QFR (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=70311.30 (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=70311.30))

As HHKB is case-mounted, you'd have to skip the top of the case.  At least the middle bit where all the keys are.  This incomplete wrapping might result in the wrap lifting sooner rather than later.

I also have been thinking to get my wrapped using vinyl but I can’t do this by myself. So I am looking for a professional vehicle wraps (https://silvertipgraphics.com/) service for that. Does anyone on this forum provide service? If yes, I would like to get your help as soon as possible.

I had a cappy magic force with ghetto browns that my frinds and I spent like 4 hours to do a "professional" vynil simulated wood wrap, and it looked pretty dope. I'd get a picture but I sold it to a friend for 30 bucks since I joined the drop for the vortex core.

If you do it, you have to put time into it or else it'll look like ****e (as nubbinator has pointed out). Also the adhesive residue is a *****. I'd say go for it if you want to put the time in, it's really hard to make it look good.

Yeah, we also wrapped a droid bionic and 3d printend a holder out of woof filament. The whole thing was pretty funny.
