So why is trump so anti american?
Make America great again?
Is he implying other countries are better than us?

And how will you pay for all the ramen, Mr. President TP? Flat tax or federal sales tax?

So glad voting is optional in the US...

hopefully we, as Americans, can reflect enough to see the downward spiral we're in and do everything in our power to pull out of it.

This means that you would accept the other people in your state's choice of Trump as president?
My guess is that you are quite young. Doesn't the phrase "We the people" mean anything to kids today?
Personally, I loathe the concept of other people choosing the government under which I have to live, but I refuse to give it to them outright.
The main reason I dont vote has to do with my religious convictions. Secular government is of little concern to me, I feel like Im losing no matter which way I vote.

Our hour in the sun has passed. The US will never dominate the world as it did through most of the 20th century.
We need to find our new proper place in the new modern world.
After emerging triumphantly unscathed from WW2, we enjoyed a couple of decades of transcendent glory, climaxing with "the Space Race" (accompanied, unfortunately, by its evil twin, the Vietnam War). This period, with extremely heavy investment in education and research, catapulted us to even greater heights of world leadership.
It has eroded steadily ever since. Reagan's disastrous economic policies accelerated it, and Bush Jr's wars clinched it. Unlike Vietnam, (which Cheney, Wolfowitz, Bush Jr, Rumsfeld, etc, had all dodged) which was an engine that was helping to drive the US economy, the current Middle Eastern wars are a gargantuan drain that have proven to be a devastating blow to our economy with no positive effects whatsoever.
Our greatest opportunity is to return to massive investments in education and research, ensuring our position as an intellectual leader in the world to come, a place that we have managed to barely and tenuously maintain in spite of everything else. With less than 5% of the world's population and approximately a quarter of its wealth, we are a large and important player, but not the only one any more.
Trump has blown a lot of hot air, but I have never heard any valid meaningful proposals for advancement come out of his mouth.

I am not a believer, and I have always had monumental "issues" with the Roman Catholic Church in particular, but this document:
http://w2.vatican.va/content/dam/francesco/pdf/encyclicals/documents/papa-francesco_20150524_enciclica-laudato-si_en.pdf
is one of the most exquisite and moving pieces that I have ever read (aside from the part about God, of course, which I ignored).
If you consider human stewardship of the planet to have significance, then it is your duty to select any candidates who would steer the course of our society in even the most slightly more positive direction. Even if major changes are difficult or not possible at all, incremental ones are still important.
All too often our country has used the religious majority to make laws and 'force' our beliefs on people who do not want them, this I cannot support. Id like to see a distinction between the Church and the Government, not an integration of the two, by voting, I violate my own principles I feel, so I simply dont..
Hope that makes sense.

The encyclical has equal value to every human being on the planet, and should be read by every thinking adult person, ignoring the religious component, if necessary, which has no real bearing on the message aside from whether we should do it "for God" or because it is what should be done, period.
Separation of Church and State was a cornerstone of the doctrine of this country, and has generally been accepted as fundamental to the American way of life.
Until Reagan came along, of course. I was not going to remark on your age, but you have never known a pre-Reagan America. The last 4 decades have see the Republican Party pursuing and partially accomplishing a rabid and radical "Christianization" of the various governments in this country, from the smallest local school boards to the highest national levels. It is sickening in the extreme and one of the primary reasons, second only to fiscal policy, that I have not voted for any Republican in well over a decade.
Here is an excerpt from one of the first major international treaties that our country entered into, signed by the 2nd president, Adams:
Treaty of Tripoli (1797)
Article 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen (Muslims); and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan (Mohammedan) nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.
"One nation, under God".
Fun.
I just think that a VP who opposed funding for AIDS treatment unless it included "pray the gay away" treatment is a really upstanding individual

Oddly enough, the "under God" part was added in the 1950's. I forget when, exactly, but relatively recently in the context of history.

I have heard this before in the context of "social issues"
From my perspective, equating the relative importance of gay marriage to the future health of the human race and the planet Earth is approximately equivalent to equating a flea with an elephant.

I guess we all have our own perspectives..
I will say that the treatment of homosexuals by some Christians is absolutely abhorrent, and contradictory to the teachings of Christ. We are supposed to love everyone, regardless of their lifestyle. Christ would call them hypocrites for the way they are treating people..

A lot of elephants swing both ways; same happens with cats and dogs but the main difference is that some elephants will pair up and stick together for a lifetime. Kind of ironic that republicans use the elephant as a party symbol when so many republicans oppose homosexuality. /shrug
