Got a little too drunk tonight and impulse bought an SSK (1393278) on Yahoo Auctions Japan - problem is there doesn't seem to be much info on this board.
All my searches are coming up only in Japanese and mention that it's made by Unicomp... but it's IBM branded, do those exist?
it'll be coming in the mail soon - looks super clean and hopefully mostly working.

Didn't Unicomp manufacture keyboards for IBM for a while?
There are plenty of Model M keyboards marked "Made by Unicomp for IBM".
-
Yep, that's a perfect valid combination of manufacturer and labeling.

Thank you guys!
Looks like my google-fu was weak. "Made by Unicomp for IBM" turns up the right results. Was mostly only familiar with the lexmark for IBM stuff and guess there aren't too many write ups on the IBM Unicomps.
Glad I didn't get scammed!

If Unicomp made SSK before, meaning that we still have hope for brand new unicomp ssk.

Yeah. Don't hold your breath.

My understanding was that Unicomp would build you an SSK out of leftover parts until about 10 years ago, when the leftovers ran out.
Seems like iMav and webwit got the last few pieces.

Yup, just the leftovers sitting around the warehouse:

They never actually produced any as Unicomp and I'll eat my hat if they ever do again.
