Hiya,
I was converted to a mech about a year ago by a friend, and ended up getting a Filco Majestouch TKL (MX Blues). I'm keen to change up the keycaps, buy some new boards, perhaps mess around with casting some caps, but at the moment time and disposable income wont allow any of that. Thankfully that should change soon so I can throw some money in the keyboard money pit.

Welcome to Geekhack!
Filco is a good solid reliable keyboard, plus it has a standard layout, so most replacement keycap sets should fit.
GMK are among the best keycaps to get, although you do pay for the premium, with sets going for up to $200 (depending on colours and options). Tai Hao is probably nearer the other end of the scale, with sets around $30, although quite reasonable for the money.
And everything between.
So it really depends on what colour and profile you want first :)

Thanks!
In terms of colour I'm not a huge fan of loud bright things, aside from that I'm not too picky and have just been keeping an eye out for suitable group buys.
Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a large collection that I can play around with, so the thought of dropping hundreds of dollars switching to a different profile or to a new board with switches that I might hate is a bit daunting.

I've got a few bright keycap sets, but the funny thing is the keyboards I use the most are my white HHKB (with a couple of strategically placed artisans) and a CODE.
But I can switch around if I feel like it :)

I made a pun.
I thought I'd better post again to mention it in case someone missed it ;D

Damn, I was buying up HHKB's 10 years ago when they were cheap!
Got my first job and eBay was where my disposable income went, wasn't too much of a keyboard crowd back then, if I'd known of the SSK back then I would have been scrapping for those instead.
I'm certainly more of a functional guy when it comes to my 'boards, maybe one day I'll see what all the fuss about 'artisans' is.

If you'd grabbed a few SSKs back then you could have made a lot out of them not that long ago. Demand for (or at least discussion about) them seems to have abated somewhat now.

Fine by me, I'm happy to capitalize on the demand for HHKB's, I just sniped a PS/2 HHKB Lite2 on eBay a couple hours ago for <$30...all I want is a beater SSK, I can do my own damn bolt-mod.

HHKB Lite is not Topre, just so you know. They are good keyboards though, and IIRC the Lite does have dedicated arrow keys.
Good luck finding a beater (and presumably very cheap) SSK though ;) They can be found, occasionally, but usually go for at least $150.
