Title: Is there any keyboards that fit my needs?
Post by: johnsmith123321 on Mon, 18 July 2016, 19:29:16
I'm looking for a keyboard with these features:

I know the Happy Hacking keyboard seems to fit these pretty well, but the layout, and the fact that they aren't available near to the UK, throw me off buying it.

Thanks!

I'm looking for a keyboard with these features:

  • Price up to £300,
Lightweight (I mean, like, really light),
    ANSI layout,
    Topre switches.

I know the Happy Hacking keyboard seems to fit these pretty well, but the layout, and the fact that they aren't available near to the UK, throw me off buying it.

Thanks!

I bought the HHKB on a recommendation, I dont game at all, just some programming and general typing, and I must say, its the best decision I ever made.  I just love it.  Hope that helps :)

I'm not sure about the weight, but a lot of people also like the FC660C

He clearly doesn't like the HHKB layout, so why are you recommending HHKBs, guys?! xD

Maybe a Realforce? You can get them TKL or even fullsize.

Just curious, why is light weight an important criterion for you?

For what it's worth, I took a flyer on a HHKB, and the layout was what worried me the most. Now that I've been using it for a couple days, I don't even notice the layout. It's not to odd that it's difficult to adapt to. Anyway, I would not throw it out of your list due to the layout. You may be able to find one at a good price used online, but also, I think the layout is not so odd that it would really throw you. It's not like moving to AZERTY or Dvorak.

The main problem seemed to be lack of availability in the UK rather than the layout.  With UK availability, perhaps the layout could be tolerated.
