Title: HHKB 30g owners, any regrets?
Post by: tiger on Fri, 22 July 2016, 21:09:21
For those with a modded 30g HHKB, any regrets? Anything you would've done differently?

I find it too light and sort of louder because of it.

30g is pinky resting on a key typing.

And where do you find 30g domes enough for an entire board?

Whenever I see that, it makes me wonder if people are just repeating hearsay without any fair firsthand experience.

Interesting. How does the keyboard get louder?

So you like the uniform 30g (fun), but not for daily use? What's your favorite daily driver?

Considering it happens on the lightest switches on my variable topre board I would say I have first hand experience.

stock HHKB is 9.99/10 but demik's HHKB Type-S i bought from him is coming in tomorrow
the only gripe i have against a stock HHKB is that spacebar is really annoying upstroke
honestly maybe the 30g would be more usable if it wasn't in a JIS layout but i still make super unnecessary mistakes just moving my hands from key to key where the JIS layout doesn't factor into it

I find the stock HHKB has a deep "thock". On my 30g silent, I find the keys have a higher pitched "thock", perhaps the lighter rubber domes pop the keys up faster.
